My kids always insist they are going to die of hunger as soon as they open their eyes. Or, if they are wide awake and ready to start their day you can give them a quiet activity to do while you finish up, like coloring, picture books, puzzles, etc. You can always guide them back to bed if it’s TOO early. If they got up a little too early, now is a great time to get them familiarized with a routine as well. If you’re lucky, the kiddos may still be asleep, and this is a good time to get them up and ready and enjoy some yummy breakfast with them. Now that you’ve centered yourself, you should be ready to tackle this day ahead. If you’re not use to waking up early, then give yourself some grace. In the end, only you know if waking up earlier and before the kids will benefit you. So, being awake before them allows me to process the morning while gathering my thoughts and ideas for the day ahead. Once my children are awake there is absolutely no silence until their heads hit their pillows. This gives me a chance to get things ready and organized without interruption. On the days I know it’s going to be busy I like to be the first one up. And sometimes my kids decide to wake up before the sun does and that’s OKAY. Especially on the days they don’t have school, or we don’t have any plans. Now, I don’t always wake up before the kids. The only sound I want to hear as my eyes are opening is the sound of my coffee maker dripping. BUT, I also enjoy the quiet in the morning LOL.
